-----DONATIONWARE:-----

This model is now proposed as a freeware/donationware. That means,  if you value the hard and long work involved and if you think it is worth a few bucks, you' can donate 5 (minimum), 8, 10, 20, or whatever € or equivalent in US$. Of course, you can choose to not reward the author and use this model for free (see the terms of use and copyright below), but, doing a donation will allow me to develop other models for Virtual Sailor and its future updates. Developing serious models is really a long task and a real commitment once one is started. Doing so on a regular basis needs some financial motivation and help.

Please note, you can make an additional donation at any time after the downloading, for any of my models.

For making a donation, please click on the link below or copy and paste the address in your browser:

Thank you a lot for your generosity and help.

This model of cargo, OCEAN CONVEYOR has been done for sailings in Virtual Sailor 7. I wanted something rather unusual in VS and I wanted to model a rather detailed object with a realism note. Her behaviour has been meticulously worked out and I hope you'll use it with interest and fun, as much as I have had for building it.

Please note, this version does contain a bridge with functioning instruments and commands like speed indicators, propeller rpm, HDG, auto-pilot, cocks, rudder position, fuel quantity.

-----Recommended minimum hardware and software:-----

2,2 GHz Dual Core processor,

2Go Ram,

GeForce 7800 graphic card with 512Mo graphic memory,

Microsoft Windows XP,

Virtual Sailor 7.

-----Utilization-----

Open the OCEAN_CONVEYOR zip archive, then simply unzip the content of "boat", "instruments" and "panels" directories into their respective same directories of your Virtual Sailor 7 game.

Check "Use 24 bit Z buffer" on into your video settings of the game, Check "Specular lighting" on and check "Hide water in cabin" off into your graphic settings option.

Wait about 100 seconds to 5 minutes, depending on your system, for loading the cargo into the game. Do not switch off your computer while this process.

To enlighten all portholes and windows at night, press 12 times your "Page down" key. To remove this lighting, use your "Page up" key. (sailbf.xx file).

If you'd like to sail into the bridge without seeing the crew, simply rename the panels/ocgums/no_crew-panel.cfg as panel.cfg. I recommend to keep the original panel.cfg file into a safe place, however, a spare copy of both files is available into the aforementioned directory in case of loss of one of them.

For a full load sailing, do set your boat's load (Boat tab option) on 110%. For an empty load sailing, do set it on 50 or 60%.

I'd recommend to set your water settings on "shaded" for obtaining higher fps . Water settings on "shaded" are usually more realistic for large ships in VS anyway, especially when sailing on high seas or in unsheltered waters.

This is an heavy, high draft and not powerful ship, with a maximum speed of about 18.4 kts, reached in a significant and rather long number of minutes like the real ones of this kind. Like the acceleration, the decceleration is very slow as well. Keep that in mind when sailing and maneuvring.

Hope you'll enjoy your sailing and virtual oil trading with this cargo ship!
